Be Blessed Verse
This week’s verse is Psalm 139: 15-16 (TPT)
It says, “You even formed every bone in my body when you created me in the secret place; carefully, skillfully, you shaped me from nothing to something. You saw who you created me to be before I became me!”
3 Intelligent Reasons to Add Color and Patterns to Your Interiors
Color and patterns can have a powerful impact in transforming a space beyond just the visual.
Reason #1: They Bring Emotion, Enthusiasm & Energy to Your Place
With bright and vibrant colors, we can create a lively and vivid atmosphere, while more subdued shades help to evoke a sense of calmness.
For instance, you could use vertical stripes to make the ceilings appear higher.
Patterns such as stripes, herringbone, polka dots, and other geometric shapes can be used to create interest that draws the eye of the viewers.
By playing with different colors or hues, tints, shades, textures, and patterns we can instantly change a room’s mood and atmosphere.
All this can be done without making a single structural change to the space.
Warm colors appear to advance toward you so it can make a room feel smaller or less open. Cool colors recede and can open up a space.
Emotionally, it can be used to evoke certain feelings such as tranquility, peace & relaxation or energy, conversation, and warmth.
Aesthetically, the right color scheme can help create an inviting yet sophisticated atmosphere, improve wellness, and ultimately, create a person's ideal lifestyle.
Reason #2: They Add Points of Interest & Personality to Your Home
Each room in the home needs a point of interest, a focal point, that draws the eye. This is sometimes called emphasis in the room.
A bland space that adds visual interest by adding patterns to a room can really transform the space. Patterns can act as pops of color that bring vibrancy and life into your home, and also they do draw the eye.
Or, they can create a calming harmony by working with existing colors in the room for a cohesive look.
Not only that, but patterns add movement to your interiors -- giving your eyes something to scan and explore -- infusing visual interest and personality into the room.
Color and patterns are a great way to make your home truly yours!
Reason #3: They Blend Styles & Bring Balance to Your Space
Patterns can be used to bring balance and harmony to an interior space.
Colorful patterns can add a playful touch, while monochromatic patterns can create an air of sophistication.
Additionally, they provide a way to blend multiple design styles together - from rustic to modern - without clashing.
Patterns also bring movement into the room by inviting the eye to explore the space, creating a visually exciting and engaging atmosphere. It's the perfect way to add personality and charm to any interior!
So fabrics have styles too, and you can blend a couple of styles with fabrics. They do not need to match at all, but they should harmonize well together.
And while you are at it be sure to balance the color in the room. You would not want to have just one item with color on one side of the room.
Stand back and see if the color or patterns on one side of the room are balanced on the other side of the room. Balance is something that many people miss in a room. It is visual balance, not weight balance. So again, stand back and check the balance for color and patterns.
This does not have to be, and probably shouldn’t be, exactly the same item.
For instance, it may be flowers on a table on one side of the room are the same color as the colors in the pillows on the sofa on the other side of the room. This can create visual balance.
An experienced interior designer will be able to guide their clients in selecting the perfect combination of color and pattern, creating a unique look that expresses their personal style.
Color and pattern can be used in countless ways in any room, so don't be afraid to get creative! An interior designer can help you make the most out of your space and make sure the colors and patterns you select complement each other for a beautiful look that will last.
