Choosing your interior design style is possibly one of the most daunting tasks for homeowners.
In this episode, I discuss what helps you develop your interior design style and what you can use as an influence to help you choose items that are a great fit for you in your home.
My life verse for my interior design business is Proverbs 24:3-4. It helps me help people with the end outcome of their home interior design —- to be a home filled with all precious and pleasant riches.

Faith Led Interior Design - What Is It? And Your Interior Design Style
Faith Led Interior Design Podcast is a mixture of Interior Design, Real Estate, and the Spirit.
I am a woman of faith and I have done interior design for over 30 years. I love helping people beautify their surroundings and create a more fulfilling lifestyle.
INTERIOR DESIGN IS MULTIFACETED
I believe there's much more to interior design, a deeper spiritual approach to interior design that touches your soul when it's done well. We will explore the Interior Design Plan, Your Personal Style or Styles, How-Tos and Tips, Secrets and Tips of professional interior designers.
What is your interior design inspiration? Do you have a piece of inspiration that is what we're going to go off of for your interior design? So say, perhaps you love an area rug? Let's go off of the colors and the look of that area rug. Or, do you love a piece of art so we can go off of that? Perhaps, let's look in your closet. We'll find some clothes that are a reflection of you.
THOSE ARE ALL GREAT, BUT HAVE YOU EVER CONSIDERED USING YOU AS INSPIRATION FOR YOUR INTERIOR DESIGN?
I believe that we should be looking at ourselves for our interior design inspiration. You are the art, and that is the reflection that we should be putting in our home because when we put things in our home that we love, not just like, but absolutely love, it makes us soooo happy. We innately like things that are like us.
How I Develop My Business and Interior Design Style
I have a story. I had a really good girlfriend when I first started design, years ago, she was helping me with my business attire. My personal style. Her name was Bernadine. She's not here anymore, but I loved her a lot and she helped me a lot.
Bernadine showed me some pictures of this beautiful woman who was warm-based coloring like me. She looked gorgeous. Berni said, “This is your style. You can have this look!”
I got mad and cried. I absolutely thought she was joking with me. I felt bad because this woman was really beautiful and I didn't feel beautiful like that, at all. I didn't think I could ever have a style like that or be as stylish as that. But she worked with me. She was showing me that I am warm-based, casual, and elegant.
As time went on, I was learning about myself. She helped me develop my business and interior design style. And that was so fun.
At the beginning of my career, I helped a couple who bought a new home. Their furniture was all in storage. They didn't have any pictures of their old house. Usually, I could go over to their home that they're moving from and see what they had before. But, of course, it was in another state so I couldn't do that. I didn't have anything to go from but them.
I remember what Bernadine had done with me. She was taking my body, my coloring, my textures, my shapes, my everything, art-wise and she said this is who I am. I started looking at the people and I started seeing what was their coloring? What shapes did they tend to like and so on… We were selecting carpets and paint and plumbing fixtures and all the things you select for a new build.
THAT WAS THE BEGINNING OF ME LOOKING AT PEOPLE AS THE ART AND INSPIRATION FOR THEIR HOMES
That's where I started having you be the art of your home and you are the inspiration of your home.
My life verse for my interior design business has been Proverbs 24:3-4. This verse says:
Through wisdom, a house is built, and by understanding, it is established by knowledge, the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches (some translations say treasures)
Why I Do Interior Design & The Faith Led Interior Design Show
My main goal when I'm doing interior design for people is that it's a reflection of them. Proverbs 24:3-4 verse is my guide.
I've looked at wisdom. Who are these people and how do they live? What do they like? What do they want to accomplish on this project? So that's wisdom.
I listened to what they have done already and what are their ideas so far?
I establish understanding, understanding of what the dreams of their heart are, who they are, and how to reflect that in their home.
And a really big want for this podcast is for interior design knowledge for the readers. Knowledge of how to create a professional interior design plan. And how a professional interior designer would do it. That should get you a different result than just, you know, willy nilly doing your designs.
I will be doing a series on how a designer approaches a design job that is different from what most people do.
My Wonderful Dream
There was this man who I believe was Jesus, and he was showing me the Temple, His House. He showed me the best tapestries, gold-covered pillars, beautiful marble floors, and much much more. it was just so pretty. Jesus said to me, “This is a reflection of me. All of this is the finest materials and craftsmanship, it's the best. I want you to make your client’s interiors be a reflection of them. I want them to have the best that they can have”.
